There are few sounds more nostalgic than the music of an ice cream truck rolling into the neighborhood.
For many of us, it instantly brings back memories of summer afternoons, running with money in our hands with our friends, and carefully choosing between a Rocket Pop (or an Otter Pop for Earnie!), an Orange Push-Up, or a scoop of Superman ice cream. No matter what flavor, ice cream is definitely better when shared with others.
And as it turns out, we never outgrow the excitement of an ice cream truck!
As part of our employee appreciation celebrations, ice cream trucks from Sweet Treats in Midland, traveled to our locations across Michigan, giving team members a chance to step away from their desks, grab a favorite treat, and spend time with colleagues. Huge shout out to them for trekking all over our great state to reach every single location from coast to coast!
Of course, the ice cream itself was a hit. But the best part wasn't what was on the menu. It was coworkers catching up between meeting, debates about the best ice cream flavor, and most importantly, it was a reminder that our work is about people.
At Mercantile, our culture is built through everyday moments of connection. While we take great pride in serving our customers and communities, we also know that supporting each other matters just as much. Creating opportunities for our employees to connect, recharge, laugh, and feel appreciated is an important part of who we are. Being community-hearted starts within our own organization. It's how we support one another, celebrate milestones, and create an environment where people feel valued and included.
The ice cream trucks brought plenty of smiles to our offices across the state, but they also brought something more meaningful. A chance to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the company of the people we work with every day.
It’s a great day when the toughest decision is which treat to choose.
