What started in 1915 as a group of fishermen gathering along the Detroit River has evolved into one of the country's most respected sailing clubs, while staying true to the camaraderie and welcoming spirit that have defined it from the beginning.
At Bayview, there is a place for everyone. With a variety of sailing classes, boats, and programs, people can get involved at any experience level. From Junior Sailing leagues to Adult Learn to Sail programs, the club is passionate about welcoming new people to the sport and helping the next generation discover the joy of being on the water.
Bayview is also home to some of sailing's premier competitions, including the Bayview Mackinac Race and the Detroit Cup. While these events have earned international recognition, the heart of the club remains its members. Sailors support one another, volunteer together, and gather for social events that strengthen connections both on and off the water.
