Merc is your partner in cybersecurity

Written by Mercantile Bank | Oct 10, 2025 8:56:05 PM

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and Merc is here to help you protect your personal information from scams, phishing, and fraud with simple, proactive steps.

We’re committed to providing a secure banking environment and giving you tools to help protect yourself.

Remember, a legitimate banking partner will never ask for sensitive information like a PIN or User ID via email, text, or unsolicited phone calls.

If someone contacts you claiming there’s been fraud on your account and asks for personal details:

  • Slow down and end the call.
  • Call us at a known phone number or use online chat (Let’s Chat) on our website.
  • Don’t click any links in unsolicited texts or emails.

It’s natural to feel unsettled by unexpected messages and calls, but the most important thing to do is pause and verify before sharing any information.

If you think you have been a victim of fraud:

  • Contact us at (800) 453-8700
  • If it involves your debit card, turn your card off immediately in online banking.

Check our Security Hub for more tips, tools, and resources.
