For the better part of a decade, Mercantile Bank has played a key role in the Annual RMA Commercial Lending Challenge. Our involvement began at the very start, with COO Scott Setlock playing a key role in developing the competition ten years ago. Hosted by Grand Valley State University’s Seidman College of Business, this high-energy competition brings together 17 student teams from nine Michigan colleges:
Students tackle real-world commercial loan requests, showcase their understanding of banking and credit analysis, and get some hands-on experience that mirrors the challenges bankers face every day.
Our team is highly engaged with the event planning and loan case study development, along with being on hand at the event to help advise, serve a competition judges, and recruit these up-and-coming bankers.
Thank you to the West Michigan Chapter of the RMA for helping to bridge the gap between education and industry. We’re proud to support the next generation of bankers as they prepare to enter the field with confidence and experience.
Expert financial tips and insights to help you make informed banking decisions.
