Solutions for Protecting Your Business

Positive Pay

Check fraud is one of the largest challenges facing businesses today. Advancements in technology are making it easier than ever to produce authentic-looking counterfeit checks. Mercantile Positive Pay provides you with a convenient, cost-effective way to help prevent check fraud losses.

Online Review of Suspect Items

Through a continuously updated issue file, Mercantile Bank is able to identify potentially fraudulent checks (suspect items) and present them for daily review. You then decide whether the bank should pay or return the suspect items.

Exception processing is streamlined by using Mercantile Online Banking to transmit your issue file before releasing any checks. It also simplifies account reconciliation since all unmatched items are examined daily rather than at month-end.

Payee Match

Verify payee name and address as another level of defense against check fraud.

Do You Need Positive Pay?

Business of all types and sizes can benefit from Positive Pay, particularly companies that:

  • Have frequent changes to employees or vendors
  • Want to increase internal controls
  • Have experienced past check fraud

ACH Notification

Unauthorized electronic transactions are a common concern for business owners. Mercantile Bank's ACH Notification service provides a great solution. Create and manage an approved list of entities that are permitted to debit accounts. Each morning you receive a list of transactions that are not on your approved list. You then decide to pay or return the items. If your business needs change, you can adjust your pre-approved list.

Dual Control

As a business owner, you can take control of all your online payments including wires and Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions. When your staff initiates a payment, only you or someone you designate, can approve it. No transactions will be processed until an authorized approval is received.
