For 22 consecutive years, we’ve been named one of West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. And this year, we’re celebrating double because for the second year in a row, we’ve been recognized among the very best.
At the June 4 Best and Brightest event, we were honored with an Elite Award: Best of the Best – Medium Sized Business.
While awards like these are meaningful, this one feels especially significant. Being named a “Best of the Best” organization means scoring in the top five percent across areas like leadership, communication, employee development, wellbeing, community impact, and more. It reflects the full picture of who we are, what we achieve, and how we show up for one another along the way.
This recognition doesn’t belong to a single team, department, or leader. It belongs to every employee who brings energy, care, and a people-first mindset to work each day.
Awards are wonderful, and we truly appreciate every accolade we received. But they don’t create or define our culture. Our team does.
What makes our workplace special is the way our employees support each other, step up for customers and communities, and consistently go above and beyond without being asked.
Programs like Cheers for Peers are a great example of that culture in action.
Through Cheer for Peers, employees nominate coworkers who go the extra mile. Helping a teammate, delivering standout service, or simply showing up in a way that makes a difference. Each month, we recognize individuals with sincere appreciation, and with a $500 donation to a nonprofit they care about.
It’s a simple idea, but a powerful one. It celebrates the everyday moments that define who we are and make an impact on our communities too.
Being recognized for 22 straight years, and now twice as Best of the Best, is something we’re incredibly proud of. But more than anything, it’s a reflection of the people who make Merc what it is.
We support each other.
We take pride in our work.
We show up with professional excellence, and a community heart.
Here’s to everything we’ve accomplished together. Now, let’s celebrate this one!
