Summer Interns Take on the Heat to Give Back to the Community

Our summer interns have been hard at work over the past few months, building professional connections, gaining valuable experience, and learning more about the communities we serve. As part of their summer program, they also toured the Boys & Girls Club and ICCF Community Homes to see the impact these organizations have across West Michigan.

Continuing the tradition of a summer community service project, this year's cohort partnered with the Grand Rapids Public Schools Foundation and the Grand Rapids Public Schools to help build a new playground at Gerald R. Ford Academic Center for local youth. Designed to last for the next 25 years, the playground will provide a safe and engaging space for generations of children.

Despite the summer heat, our interns eagerly volunteered their time, assisting with assembling playground equipment, unloading materials, and preparing the site for installation. Their teamwork and dedication helped bring the project one step closer to completion.

Led by Misti Stanton, this summer marks the 12th cohort of our Summer Intern Program. The group includes 17 interns representing 13 different colleges and universities, making a meaningful impact both professionally and in the community.
